EU to slap China and others with human-rights sanctions

A dozen or so officers from China, Russia, North Korea, Eritrea, Libya, and South Sudan are to go on an EU blacklist of the world’s worst human-rights abusers after a preliminary settlement between member states’ ambassadors in Brussels on Thursday night, diplomats instructed EUobserver. The visa-bans and asset-freezes shall be formally signed off by overseas ministers on 22 March. 4 Russians have been already placed on the checklist final month.
