SYNOPSIS: The streets of N.Y. may be briefly silent, however in downtown Manhattan within the early 90’s, they have been the location of a dynamic collision between two vibrant subcultures: skateboarding and hip hop. Jeremy Elkin’s documentary, All The Streets Are Silent, narrated by Eli Morgan Gesner, brings to life the magic of this time interval and the convergence that created an city fashion and visible language that will have an outsized and lasting cultural impact. If Paris Is Burning and KIDS had a child, you’d have this documentary love letter to New York—inspecting race, society, style and road tradition—and stuffed with archival footage that includes legendary characters and figures from the downtown scene.
