The development of the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) was funded by a HK$3.5 billion donation from The Hong Kong Jockey Membership Charities Belief – the Membership’s largest single charity donation thus far. The museum will open to the general public on 2 July as a spotlight of the twenty fifth anniversary of the institution of the Hong Kong Particular Administrative Area (HKSAR).
Co-organised by the Authorities of the HKSAR and the Ministry of Tradition and Tourism of the Individuals’s Republic of China, the opening ceremony of the HKPM was held on 22 June. It was officiated by Chief Government of the HKSAR Carrie Lam, Vice-Minister of Tradition and Tourism and Administrator of the Nationwide Cultural Heritage Administration Li Qun; Deputy Director of the Liaison Workplace of the Central Individuals’s Authorities in HKSAR Lu Xin-ning, Deputy Commissioner, the Workplace of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Overseas Affairs of the Individuals’s Republic of China within the HKSAR Yang Yi-rui, Director of the Palace Museum Dr Wang Xu-dong, Appearing Secretary for Residence Affairs Jack Chan, Chairman of the Board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) Henry Tang, Membership Chairman Philip Chen, Chairman of the Board of the HKPM Bernard Charnwut Chan, Chief Government Officer of the WKCDA Betty Fung and Museum Director of HKPM Dr Louis Ng. Additionally in attendance had been former Membership Chairmen, Dr Simon Ip and Dr Anthony Chow, Membership Stewards, and Chief Government Officer Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.
Membership Chairman Philip Chen expressed his honest because of the Central Authorities, the Liaison Workplace of the Central Individuals’s Authorities and the HKSAR Authorities for his or her assist for the venture.
