Omega Sea presented its fish-oil processing and refining plant in Magadan to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Aug 15, 2025. The visit covered the production of fish fat and the subsequent refining operation at the enterprise.
The visiting party was met by Magadan Region Governor Sergei Nosov, Omega Sea General Director Nikolai Kotov, plant director Anatoly Popov and laboratory head Sergei Malashenko.

Two manufacturing lines
The plant's test launch took place on Feb 3, 2023. The company had been registered in Magadan in 2021. Two lines had been built: one for refined fish oil and another for re-esterified triglycerides, known as rTG. The refining line handles fish oil obtained during the production of fishmeal.
During the test-launch ceremony, Popov said the plant had been built in less than a year and that imported equipment accounted for 99% of its equipment. Initial operation was intended to produce refined-oil samples for laboratory analysis and the subsequent preparation of permits and certificates.
Raw-material supply was also part of the development programme. Pacific Fishery Company was arranging vessels to produce fish oil for delivery to the Magadan plant and further processing there. Construction of a large trawler had begun to provide raw material for the plant.
Product portfolio and employment
By the July 2024 government presentation of the enterprise, the product portfolio comprised three manufacturing categories:

- food-grade fish oil;
- re-esterified triglycerides;
- veterinary fish oil for aquaculture and pet-feed applications.
The launch had created 30 jobs. The annual sales programme presented in July 2024 envisaged 2,200 tonnes for domestic and international markets, comprising 2,000 tonnes of refined oil and 200 tonnes of re-esterified fish oil. These quantities describe the programme's planned annual volumes, rather than a statement of completed shipments.
