GARLAND, Texas — Patriot Pickle has opened a new production facility in Garland following nine months of construction. The expansion adds manufacturing and distribution capabilities for the company’s fresh pickles and other fermented foods, serving foodservice customers and grocery retailers.

Patriot expects the facility to more than triple its production capacity. The company also expects the project to create up to an estimated 75 jobs in the Garland community as it expands its manufacturing footprint.

The new operation is intended to extend the company’s geographic reach. Patriot’s stated delivery objective is to supply fresh pickles across the United States within five days or less from farm to package.

Products, packaging and customers

Patriot Pickle was founded in 2004 to supply fresh pickles throughout the year. Headquartered in Wayne, New Jersey, the company supplies thousands of restaurants, delis, supermarkets and distributors across North America. Its customer base spans both foodservice operations and grocery retail.

The company offers a range of cuts and flavours under several brands, including Patriot Pickle, CRISP, Regal Crown, K&Z and First Place Foods. Its packaging options include:

  • pails for foodservice customers;
  • quart packs for retail;
  • single-serve pouches.

Ownership and management partnership

An affiliate of H.I.G. Capital completed the acquisition of Patriot Pickle in January 2024. The transaction’s financial terms were not disclosed. H.I.G. partnered with the existing management team and identified both organic expansion and acquisitions as areas it intended to support.

Earlier expansion through First Place Foods

Patriot acquired First Place Foods in May 2023. The acquired business produces fresh and fermented pickles, relish and other pickled vegetables. Financial terms of that transaction were also undisclosed.

The acquisition was intended to broaden Patriot’s geographic coverage, provide access to national sales opportunities and offer customers manufacturing from two sources. Patriot identified fresh, refrigerated pickles as a growth area for its foodservice and institutional customers at the time.

First Place Foods was Patriot’s second acquisition, following the purchase of Farm Ridge Foods’ pickle business. That earlier sequence of acquisitions preceded the new Garland facility opening in November 2024.
